Moonfish is a Galway-based theatre company creating work in English and Irish that is rooted in the limitless possibilities of the imagination.

Is comhlacht amharclannaíochta é Moonfish atá lonnaithe i nGaillimh agus a chruthaíonn léiriúcháin i nGaeilge agus i mBéarla go bhfuil bunús acu i ndomhan leathan na samhlaíochta.

Moonfish produce theatre for young people and adults.  Our work is defined by its energy, imagination and quality.  We produce classics, new writing and devised work and with each piece we seek to immerse our audience in a theatrical experience.  We have used shadow work, live music, dance and more to create these experiences… they are always different but each is created with a passion for theatre.

Cruthaíonn Moonfish amharclannaíocht do ghach aois-ghrúpa. Aithnítear ár gcuid oibre ón fhuinneamh, samhlaíocht agus caighdeán a bhaineann leis i gcónaí. Léiríonn Moonfish drámaí claisiceach, drámaí nua-scríte agus drámaí nua-cruthaíthe agus is é an aidhm atá le gach phíosa ná taithí iomlán amharclannaíóchta a thabhairt don lucht féachanna.

In 2013 Moonfish were awarded the Stewart Parker Trust / BBC Northern Ireland Irish Language Theatre award for their acclaimed production of Pinocchio – A Nightmare, which premièred at the Dublin Fringe Festival before touring Ireland, finishing up at the Baboró International Children’s Arts Festival.

I 2013 bhuaigh Moonfish an ghradam Stewart Parker/ BBC Northern Ireland don dráma is fearr i nGeailge don léiríu Tromluí Phinocchio. Cuireadh an léiriú seo ar stáitse ar dtús don bhFéile Dublin Fringe agus ansin chuaigh sé ar chamchúirt náisiúnta a chríochnaigh ag Féile Ealaíne Idirnáisiúnta do Pháistí Bhaboró.

Moonfish’s most recent production is Star of the Sea, based on the best-selling novel by Joseph O’Connor. Star of the Sea was produced in co-production with An Taibhdhearc and premièred at the Galway International Arts Festival 2014. The run sold out and received rave reviews from audiences and critics alike. Star of the Sea then toured tour nationally in September & October 2015, and Moonfish are currently considering the option of an International Tour. Stay tuned!

In 2016 Moonfish were chosen to be Theatre Artists in Residence, at Riverbank Arts Centre, Newbridge. During this residency we will be focusing on developing new skills in the area of immersive theatre, as well as workshopping our next production.  We are currently presenting our first production with The Riverbank entitled "The Fantastical Time-Travelling Library Bus" which is an immersive theatre production for children.
