Ionad ag Foghlaim
Ionad ag Foghaim is a scheme, organised by Moonfish and funded by Foras na Gaeilge that helps promote the Irish language in theatres and arts centres around the country. It encourages staff members and audiences with an interest in the language to get involved in Irish language events and to use the cúpla focal.
Is scéim é Ionad ag Foghlaim, eagraithe ag Moonfish le urraíocht ó Foras na Gaeilge, chun an Ghaeilge a chothú in amharclannaí agus ionaid ealaíne ar fud na tíre. Spreagann sé baill foirne agus lucht féachanna go bhfuil suim acu sa teanga páirt a ghlacadh in imeachtaí Ghaeilge agus na cúpla focal Ghaeilge atá acu a úsáid.
There are three strands to the scheme:
Network Building/ Forbairt Líonra: Moonfish has researched Irish language organisations, classes, groups and activities in the area of each of the participating venues. This information is used to create links between the venues and local Irish-language organisations. Moonfish will also make this information available to audiences in the format of information postcards unique to each venue.
Ionad ag Foghlaim/ Learner Venue: Moonfish has been working with each venue to strengthen the use of Irish in the venue and to help promote the venue as 'Irish-friendly'. Staff members (and our own Scottish producer, Jo!) are using Duolingo, an online language-learning application, to start learning Irish. Keep an eye out for updates form participating staff members on Facebook and Twitter.
Outreach/ Imeachtaí: Moonfish are organising Irish Language events during their year as Artists in Residence at The Riverbank Arts Centre. If you'd like to find out more, please visit the Riverbank's website, here
